We packed up the car and headed to Madison two weeks ago.
It was great to show off our little Lily and let Mia have some quality Grandma & Grandpa time!
We couldn’t leave at nap time so we relied on the iPhone to entertain into the evening.
Praise the Lord for Veggie Tales and Curious George streamed on our phones.
It makes long car rides go faster for both parents and child!!
Saturday morning, Mia helped peel apples for some crepe filling.
She thinks it’s pretty cool that Grandma has a stool just perfect for a little kitchen helper!
She also adores reading with some with Grandpa.
If she wasn’t in the kitchen, she was in the library with one of her very animated story tellers.
Pop-up books are something we haven’t discovered around our house.
She seemed to love the excitement of them!
Mia is also addicted to the piano…future pianist in our midst’s?!?!
Lily also got lots of attention.
She loved checking out her chubby cheeks in the mirror.
Mia learned to “play” the guitar with Aunt Kathryn.
Lily’s faces are so fun.
Grandma was loving seeing some of the new expressions.
All that play time makes a little one sleepy and Grandma was a great cuddle buddy for nap time.

We stopped by Ella’s Deli for some lunch.
In all my time living in Madison, I never went to this popular haunt.
Now that we have kids, I have a feeling we’ll be visiting often.
Mia got a corndog for lunch and apparently loved it as signaled by her finger licking!
She also thought the fries dipped in applesauce were quite a treat. Yuck!
After lunch, Mia and Grandpa took the carousel for a spin.
I was surprised to see she didn’t want a horse.
We had discussed all her horse options to ride during lunch.
Our trip to Madison was initially because of a wedding.
Alex got married and, of course, the three other four musketeers were all there to celebrate.
Lily and Mark got to enjoy their first father/daughter dance cuddled together.
It always makes me cry to think of Mark dancing with his girls at their weddings.
Lilybean stayed up way past her bedtime to enjoy the wedding festivities!
Sunday morning, Mia got up early with Grandma to make some biscuits.
Mia was mesmerized watching Aunt Kathryn play the hand bells in church.
She didn’t like being up in the balcony but calmed down when the music started.
After a nice LONG nap, Mia passed the driving time with her crayons on her new travel table.
